Espíritu Valiente

Composed and Arranged by Ben Patterson

Decades of salsa gigs are bound to rub off on you eventually. This catchy and fun tune is heavily influenced by the sounds of classic sounds of Ray Barretto and Eddie Palmieri, and Ben’s own time spent in the salsa scenes in D.C. and Dallas. It’s a perfect chance to add percussionists…the more, the merrier! Solos are for trombone and alto sax with a quintessentially Patterson band development section between. Interesting rhythms and a big bold finish also help make this a fun and exciting piece. [Instrumentation: 5 saxes, 8 brass, 4 rhythm + all the percussionists you can find]
