Ben Patterson

Ben Patterson’s unique musical voice makes him instantly recognizable as a trombonist, composer, and arranger. He is the former lead trombonist and music director for the USAF Airmen of Note, with whom he spent 22 years thrilling audiences with his fiery technique and connecting with students all over the U.S. and abroad. Ben's compositions and arrangements can be heard on seven Airmen of Note recordings, numerous Jazz Heritage radio programs, and in jazz concerts around the U.S, Europe, Japan, and Australia.

Ben's latest venture, The Ben Patterson Group, has released two recordings on Origin Records, "Push the Limits," and "The Way of the Groove," both featuring Ben's compositional style in a small group setting. Ben also leads The Ben Patterson Jazz Orchestra, whose 2016 recording, “Vital Frequencies featuring Chris Potter” showcases his Ben's arranging skills for big band. The band includes some of the Washington D.C. area’s top musicians and has performed at Blues Alley and for the Washington Performing Arts Society Gala.
