Tie, No Suit

Composed by Graham Richards/Arranged by Dave Richards

With this chart, Dave shows us he knows how to do a swinging bop chart as well as anyone. This medium-fast tune, composed by Dave's brother, Graham features alto on melody, solo, and sax soli. Medium-up swing, starts with alto on a cool, minor bop melody, which is picked up and harmonized by others. Alto gets extended solo space and there is a piano solo as well. There's a bopping' sax soli leading to a swinging big band shout chorus. This chart has a sort of West-coast vibe to it and will be a great vehicle for your alto soloist. [Instrumentation: 5 saxes, 10 brass, 4 rhythm]
